What I Offer

Services

Six services, one goal — helping your manuscript become everything it's capable of being. Every project is quoted individually based on word count, scope, and timeline.

📖

Beta Reading

The full reader experience

I read your manuscript cover to cover as an engaged reader and report back on everything — what worked, what didn't, and why. Ideal for writers who want an honest reader's perspective before querying or publishing.

  • Full manuscript read-through
  • Detailed reader report (pacing, plot, character, world-building)
  • Emotional resonance & engagement notes
  • Plot hole & continuity flags
  • Overall impression & recommendations
✏️

Developmental Editing

Big-picture structure & story

A deep structural edit that examines the foundations of your story. Best for manuscripts that are complete but need significant reworking of plot, character, or narrative architecture.

  • Story structure & arc analysis
  • Character motivation & development
  • Theme & subtext evaluation
  • Pacing & chapter-by-chapter notes
  • Comprehensive editorial letter
🔍

Line Editing

Voice, clarity & style

A sentence-level pass that sharpens your prose while preserving your unique voice. Ideal for manuscripts with a solid structure that need their writing lifted to the next level.

  • Sentence clarity & rhythm
  • Voice consistency throughout
  • Show vs. tell guidance
  • Dialogue & exposition balance
  • Word-level precision notes

Copy Editing

Grammar, consistency & accuracy

The technical layer that makes your manuscript airtight. A thorough copy edit catches grammatical errors, inconsistencies, and unclear passages before they reach your reader.

  • Grammar, spelling & punctuation
  • Style & tense consistency
  • Character name & detail continuity
  • Sentence structure & syntax
  • Fact & logic checks
🧐

Proofreading

The final pre-publication pass

Your last line of defence before the world sees your work. A proofread catches anything that slipped through earlier edits — typos, formatting quirks, repeated words, and final polish.

  • Typo & spelling corrections
  • Punctuation & spacing errors
  • Repeated word & phrase flags
  • Formatting inconsistencies
  • Final readiness assessment
📐

Formatting

Submission & publication ready

Manuscript formatted to industry standards — whether you're sending to literary agents, submitting to publishers, or uploading to a self-publishing platform like KDP or IngramSpark.

  • Standard manuscript format (SMF)
  • Agent / publisher submission formatting
  • KDP & IngramSpark upload formatting
  • Chapter headers & scene breaks
  • Front & back matter layout

Editorial Review/Endorsement

Get Reader Reviews on your manuscript

Manuscript is reviewed by an experienced editor who provides a detailed report on the manuscript's strengths and weaknesses, along with a quote that can be used for marketing and promotional purposes. Ideal for authors seeking professional feedback and a credible endorsement to boost their book's visibility and credibility in the market.

  • Comprehensive editorial review
  • Detailed strengths and weaknesses analysis
  • Professional endorsement quote for marketing

How it works

Every project is different, so every quote is too. Here's what goes into it.

📏

Word Count

Most editorial services are priced per word. The longer the manuscript, the more time it takes — and the quote reflects that fairly.

🔧

Scope of Work

A light proofread is priced differently to a full developmental edit. The depth of the service determines the rate.

📅

Timeline

Standard turnaround is included in all quotes. Rush requests may affect pricing — always best to book early!

Not sure which service you need? Fill out the inquiry form and describe your manuscript — I'll recommend the right service and send a no-obligation quote.

Questions writers ask most

Beta reading gives you a reader's honest experience of your manuscript — what worked emotionally, what confused them, where they got bored. Developmental editing goes deeper: it diagnoses structural problems and offers specific, actionable suggestions for how to fix them. Think of beta reading as the diagnosis and developmental editing as the treatment plan.
Most manuscripts only need one or two services depending on where they are in the writing process. Early drafts benefit most from beta reading or developmental editing. Later drafts benefit from line editing and copy editing. Proofreading and formatting come right at the end. When you fill out the inquiry form, I'll recommend the right fit based on your manuscript's stage.
Turnaround times vary by manuscript length and current workload. As a general guide: beta reads typically take 2–4 weeks; developmental edits 3–5 weeks; line and copy edits 2–4 weeks; proofreads and formatting 1–2 weeks. I'll give you a firm timeline estimate in your quote.
Absolutely. Your manuscript is only ever seen by me, and I treat every project with complete confidentiality. I'm happy to sign an NDA before we begin if that gives you additional peace of mind.
I work across most fiction genres including fantasy, science fiction, YA, literary fiction, romance, thriller, horror, contemporary fiction, mystery, and new adult. If your genre isn't listed, reach out anyway — I may still be a good fit.
Yes! For larger projects I'm happy to do a sample edit of the first chapter or first 1,000 words so you can see my style and approach before committing. Just mention this when you fill out the inquiry form.
